I only have 1 canoe. The "extra" goes back to it's usual home this week (if I get it over there).

I also have access to a canoe pretty much just like yours, assuming we did want a whole flotilla.

more is better, as long as they know what they are doing, imo.
one thing to worry about is weekend boat traffic in my preferred crabbing locale can get a bit hectic, but I know people do paddle out there (shilshole)

BARRY RESPOND.
is July 9 or 10 good? (I'll be doing something along these lines during this weekend regardless)
Where's some good middle ground that would be salty and crabby? Preferably with sandy bottoms.

A Chic Rider's meeting.
Salty, crabby, and the bottoms are generally like gigantic bags of sand.

Yes sir, responding now sir!
Actually July 9-10th doesn't work for me. The preceding weekend, or the following weekend do though.

preceding does not for me, but the following does.
July 16/17.
Is Saturday or Sunday better?
Where is a good spot that you know of that would be middle-ish? Glancing at a map, I see Des Moines...

Saturday works for me.
And I can drive a bit if needed. I only know places that are super local. Although this is a pretty cool spot, a boat access only island, shallow water, sandy bottom, warm in the summer . . .

Then wherever is good for you and that you know.
So far I'm going to plan on bringing my paddleboard and my little kayak. (I'm assuming Plummy needs a boat?) Maybe I can grab a crab pot too.

I'm assuming plummy needs a floaty too.
max 2 units of crab gear per licensed fisher, and i have 3 pots and a flinger.
I don't really have a spot... how much paddling do you have to do to get to this island? is 2 trips feasible for gear and people who end up without boats?

Floaty?
If you mean a PFD then I always bring that with the kayak.
As for 2 trips, it's certainly doable, but probably less than ideal.

google has it at ~2000 feet....so almost half a mile each way....a mile and a half of paddling just to get half a mile....seems a bit much.
is that Kopachuck park someplace we could park, picnic and launch?
by "floaty", I mean something to float on....a boat or something
I'll look in my book that I've got about south-sound areas.... "afoot and a afloat -- southern puget sound"...for ideas when I get a chance.

i have these things on my chest called funbags. they also serve as pfd when applicable. all i should really need is a paddle. or eat a lot of fiber the night before and i can be my own boat. (in reality, i can just go rent something. bought a roof rack for the car last month so i just need to get some straps and i'll be self-sufficient. but someone else bringing me something is also quite welcome.)
but, isn't my role in the kitchen with jessica?
and uh, crab license... would ed's surplus or whatever that is on 196th have what i need?

And I've never seen fish and game around this area, so if you feel like being illegal . . .

yes, I've bought licenses there.
freddy's at customer service or walmart at the sporting goods counter is also good or big 5 at the gun counter
online
REI does NOT sell fish and game licenses.
Barry, I do not feel like being illegal.

ed's is on my way to work. as is freddy. i'll work on that this week... or maybe next week.
plus, a license allows me to go into the middle of the water some where with a pole and sit all day this summer.
then i could look all fly like this dude that just walked in:
yup. socks with sandals and a popped up collar on the ed hardy.
my panties are so wet...
...from cleaning the fish tank.

Totally looking forward to this.
Guess I should get out and make sure I still remember how to paddle . . .
I figure it's been about 6 months since I've been on the water . . . damn.

Just scoped out a kick ass little spot to launch if we still want to do Cutt's Island. Easy paddle with another park about 1/4 mile away.
I can post more map links if people want.
Edit: not to mention there is a little store you can easily paddle to in case you forget something.

honestly, that launch point is not going to work for us...
as much as I'd love to take over a spot on that beach, we'll need everyone to have separate floaties...and if we were to do that, why not just launch from kopachuck park for us out of shape paddlers?
I love the spot, just don't think a 1.7 mile paddle would be repeatable later in the day....
my wife and I are planning on coming with my canoe, but we'll need to figure out how to deal with Grant and Sarah who don't have boats.

Gotcha.
As for launching at Kopachuk it is too far to realistically carry a boat. It's honestly probably close to a half mile from where you park to the beach.
So someone else make a suggestion then, I'm fresh out.
And I have a boat for one person to borrow. Maybe I will grab the canoe if we need that as well.

Hopefully a schedule gets put out soon so I know wtf is going on.
Even better if I nailed this interview and I can just wave my hand, say peace out, and get my weekends back.
