wsp and dol states even if the bike once had a plate any dirt bike with a off road mso from the manufacturer will not be able to be plated after 2010 as they will be going off of the vin numbers from this year on. but alas my info has been incorrect when even directly from the horse's mouth

i looked into 650r also....lighter than that if the L version

pretty simple to convert anything over.

check out motostrano, sickassracing and qtmi have jsut bout anything and everything you could think of for the swap

and when you say considerably cheaper than a ktm, how cheap you trying to go?

if your willing to do the work you should be able to get into a ktm pretty cheap if your willing to look around.

keep in mind they are the same bikes literally for nearly 10 years...sans plastics and a seat...

on paper i have less than 4k in this project.....cant imagine you could build a drz for same...or even possibly the xr650r....

Given his past track record with hondas a ktm probably is out of the question. You need to do more that just change oil and plugs.

What's the purpose of all of these? I can take my SM out on the freeway and ride it to where I'm going...from what I read below Normand's KTM would go tits up after a short bit...is the XR going to have the same limitations?

The only limiting factor on the exc would be the oil too getting hot or lack of

The exc is a " cross country" intended.
Numerous people have ran them to date in baja 1000 and long drawn out rally races.

After an oil cooler install (400.00 comes with new cases) the bike will hold close to 1.85L once that's in play only thing u should have to consider is valve checks and adjustments at the 12-1500m intervals.

And no. I don't think the honda would have the same limitations.
But he may have a limitation with wsp or the dol trying to get it plated or keeping the
Plate as 99.9% japanese motocross bikes come with the mso or off-road only.

Where as the ktm's come blank and the exc's actually have mso of dual purpose.

i'm gonna go with talk to pete95(?think thats his sn on pnw) he has one. its not full sm converted but he rocks it on the pgp track and he's been riding them for long long times and would be a great source of info about whether or not it makes sense to try to sm one. you're welcome your track riding douche bag.

+10 for spelling.

Seriously.

Thank you for spelling everything correctly, even if your shift key appears to be broken.

the only reason they don't stop for shit is because people just do a rotor and spacer kit. needs better caliper and master. that's why lizi's won't stop to save your life.

i don't think they are too under powered, but they are not a high perfomance bike.

you should take a moment to call them and get all your info straight.

unlike you....i did...as i was considering doing an xrl / rr conversion.

theres FAR more available than you see.

from what i was told fork legs/mounts, and hubs were the same on ALL xrl xrr....

i think your information is incorrect....
